Marcopolo’s journalist Elisabetta Canoro and photographer Piergiorgio Pirrone recently visited the island within the framework of a press trip organized by the Municipality of Astypalea, “to report on the beauties and flavors of the island of positive energy,” an announcement said. “It is the first exclusive report on the island published in the Italian market in the last few years.” Photo Source: Municipality of Astypalea Marcopolo’s special edition Speciale Estate 2018, will also include a feature on the Greek islands and Astypalea in particular. In addition, a number of TV spots on Astypalea will be broadcast on Marcopolo’s web channel throughout the summer season. “Our aim is to promote the island’s nature, culture, traditions, local products and gastronomy and to strengthen our long relationship with the Italian tourists,” Astypalea Deputy Mayor Maria Kambouri said. The press trip was part of a number of promotional activities organized by the municipality within the framework of its new tourism campaign, which was launched in May. Under the motto “Astypalea: Τhe Aegean Energy Spring”, the campaign aims to promote the island’s beauties, summer offers and gastronomy. Furthermore, travel and tourism consultant MTC Group has been assigned to implement a year-long strategy for the island’s promotion and to boost its tourism product.
