Skopelos Island, Greece.

The Spyrou Hotels Group marked four decades of Skopelos hospitality with a series of events open to guests, friends and partners during June 3-6.

Located on the Northern Sporades island of Skopelos, Spyrou Hotels started off as a small family business in 1978 and has evolved into a group of four hotel units, expanding into other activities, in the meantime.

The three-day events for the group’s 40th anniversary, which aimed to promote Skopelos as an up-and-coming tourism destination offering tradition, gastronomy, natural beauty, pristine beaches and high quality accommodation, concluded with a seminar on hotel marketing.

The Spyrou Hotels Group, with the support of Hellenic Seaways and Alkyon Travel, also hosted Greek travel writers who had the chance to learn more about the island, its products and tourist offerings.

Meanwhile, the company recently launched its new company brand “Spyrou Skopelos Experience” aiming to convey the complete holiday services and exclusive care offered to customers choosing to stay at one of its hotels.

“We consider it our obligation to highlight not only our own businesses, but Skopelos as a whole, since we owe our success to this island,” said George Michalis, general director at Spyrou Skopelos Experience.

Spyrou Skopelos Experience has enhanced its hotel accommodation by creating three new gourmet restaurants which complement the group’s wellness services, and has expanded into wedding receptions and hiking packages, as well.

The group has also diversified over the last six years with activities in trade with Best Shop Skopelos, which led to the recent inauguration of Best Shop Skiathos.

“From the development of the company and its gradual consolidation as the biggest employer on Skopelos, there is an increased responsibility to support the local community, thanks to which our hotels have had such a successful course,” said Vassilis Spyrou, chairman and CEO Spyrou Hotels Group.
