Cypriot airline Cobalt Air has entered into an interline agreement with global carrier Etihad Airways, aiming to connect Cyprus with destinations in the Middle East.

According to an announcement, the agreement is expected to significantly benefit Cobalt Air and the Cypriot economy, as it will open more than 100 new itineraries from Cyprus via Abu Dhabi.

The partnership will also help both carriers widen their passenger reach and increase tourism flows to and from the Middle East.

The agreement reconnects Etihad with Cyprus, as the carrier had stopped flying to the country in 2014.

“We are ready to inaugurate this partnership by providing our passengers from Cyprus with connections to popular destinations,” said Philokypros Roussounides, director of corporate affairs at Cobalt Air.

Cobalt in February started flying from Larnaca to Abu Dhabi with its Airbus A320 aircraft.

“According to the latest data, Cyprus is a popular destination for travelers from the Middle East… The new connections will enhance tourism in both areas,” Roussounides added.

All of Cobalt’s flights from/to Abu Dhabi offer the new Business Class service with 12 especially designed seats and dining on demand.

In addition, Cobalt offers the new IFB platform of Bluebox Wow (wifi) on all its aircraft, which includes numerous entertainment options.

Founded in 2015, Cobalt Air flies to 21 destinations across 12 countries in Europe and the Middle East.
