The Divani Collection Hotels has received two honors at the Europe Gala ceremony of the 25th World Travel Awards (WTA) 2018, which was recently held in Athens. The WTA are among the most prestigious awards of the global travel and tourism industry, with more than 200,000 industry professionals from around the world participating in the voting process every year. Divani has been named Greece’s Leading Hotel Group 2018, while the Divani Caravel Hotel, located in the heart of Athens, was awarded as Greece’s Leading City Hotel for 2018″. “The awards come at a significant time as Divani Collection Hotels this year celebrates its diamond anniversary, counting 60 years as a leader in luxury hospitality,” the hotel’s management said in an announcement. WTA honors Divani founder with Lifetime Achievement Award The WTA also honored Aristotelis Divanis, the founder of the Divani Collection Hotels with the special Lifetime Achievement Award. Divani Apollon Palace & Thalasso “The recognition of Aristotelis Divanis’ contribution to the Greek hospitality sector with a WTA Lifetime Achievement Award is a reflection of his tireless work in the tourism industry… his strong entrepreneurial spirit and love for authentic, warm hospitality,” the announcement said. Divanis launched his first hotel in Trikala, central Greece, in the late 1950s and quickly went on to become one of the leading hoteliers in the country, with the development of new properties in Meteora, Larissa, Athens and Corfu. The inclusion of the Divani Apollon Palace & Thalasso and Divani Caravel in the Leading Hotels of the World in recent years, has marked the group’s entry into the global hospitality elite.
