The museums and sites included in the pilot scheme are the Acropolis and the archaeological sites of Athens’ historic center; the archaeological site of Knossos; the Heraklion Archeological Museum and the archaeological area and museum of Ancient Messini.

“The system has been operating on a pilot scheme and successfully handled traffic during peak hours at all sites,” the announcement said.

Moreover, an online service for the purchase of e-tickets will be in operation by the end of the week.

The project is being funded by the National Bank of Greece and the Stavros Niarchos Foundation.
