Announcements Greek Islanders Can Now Claim Transport Discounts by GTP editing team 10 July 2018 written by GTP editing team 10 July 2018 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 23 Residents of 49 Greek islands can now claim transportation discounts as announced earlier this year by registering on the newly launched www.metaforikoisodynamo.gr platform. Eligible island residents need to register only once and should submit TAXIS codes, personal data and IBAN number in order for the discounts to be deposited. Upon completion, users will receive an islander code which they will present to ferry agencies when purchasing their tickets and will at the end of each month receive in their bank account the amount of the tax-deductible discount. The same applies for a number of costs involving the transport of goods to and from the islands. In order to be eligible for the discounts, companies must retain a record of the relevant documents – bill of lading, invoices and professional vehicle fares (in the case of own transportation). Announced earlier this year by Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, the relief measure currently in its pilot phase, foresees discounts for the transportation of goods and people to remote islands and is aimed at offsetting the extra cost of transportation to these areas. Site administrators inform that should there be technical problems during registration or any queries, applicants should call 215-215-7830, Monday-Friday between 9am and 5pm or submit their queries on the special form that exists on the site. Residents from the following islands are eligible for the discount dubbed “metaforiko isodynamo” (or transport equivalent): Agathonisi, Agios Efstratios, Agios Minas, Alimia, Anafi, Antipila, Arkia, Armatia, Astypalaia, Gyali, Donousa, Errikousa, Irakleia, Thymena, Ikaria, Kalymnos, Karpathos, Kasos, Kastelorizo, Kinaro, Koufonisia, Kos, Levitha, Lipsous, Leros, Lesvos, Lemnos, Mathraki, Marathos, Nimos, Nisyros, Othonous, Oinousses, Patmos, Samos, Samothraki, Saria, Stroggyli, Symi, Syrna, Schinousa, Telendos, Tilos, Farmakonisi, Fournoi, Chalki, Chios, Psara and Pserimos.
