More specifically, F&B services posted a positive recruitment/departure balance in June at 29,816, followed by accommodation with a balance of 24,319. The tourism sector accounted for seven in 10 hirings (71.51 percent) in May, or 77,753 of the 108,725 new positions created. According to the data, the most sought-after positions were waiters and bartenders (at 22,473), cooks at hotels and restaurants (8,470) and hotel chambermaids (3,947), followed by receptionists, customer service, and groom service (3,739). Meanwhile, Ergani data revealed that the South Aegean Region accounted for the most new hirings in June at 14,291, followed by the Ionian Islands with 7,488 and Crete with 4,601. In the same month, 45.13 percent of all hirings were for full-time positions, 42.13 percent for part-time jobs and 12.74 percent concerned rotation work. Athens International Airport Meanwhile, in relevant news, according to the intelligence unit of the Greek Tourism Confederation (SETE), the number of international arrivals grew by 11.1 percent in April 2018 compared to the same month in 2017, with Athens International Airport (AIA) posting a 16.1 percent rise in incoming traffic and regional airports a 7.8 percent increase in the same month – 22.9 percent and 11.5 percent respectively over the first four months of the year. SETE analysts also cite Bank of Greece data according to which tourism-related revenue for March grew by 28.2 percent and the number of arrivals in the same month by 12.8 percent.
