Mykonos is one of the six destinations in Europe singled out by Thomas Cook as a leading LGBTQ holiday getaway.

According to Thomas Cook’s blog, the Cycladic island is one of the most LGBTQ-friendly destinations in the world, “perfect for soaking up the sun”.

“The Greek Island of Mykonos, with its long and colorful LGBTQ history,” joins Ibiza, Berlin, Gran Canaria, Barcelona, and Amsterdam as Europe’s top spots for LGBTQ holidays for both partners or friends.

Favorite gay-friendly beaches on Mykonos according to the blog are Super Paradise Beach, Elia Beach or Agrari Beach, but the writer also suggests walking past the rainbow flag on Elia to discover a hidden nudist beach catering to the LGBTQ community.

The post also refers ‘Little Venice’  for some unwinding and romance.

LGBTQ travelers can enjoy the the beautiful beaches, delicious food and fantastic nightlife on Ibiza, while Berlin is recommended as great city-break destination with some of the top must-go-to LGBTQ events, among these the Berlin Pride Parade in late July.

The post goes on to describe Gran Canaria as “one of the most progressive countries in the world” for LGBTQ rights, evolving quickly into a very popular location.

Finally, Barcelona is growing into a popular destination for gay and lesbian vacationers, while Amsterdam continues to be a leading city-break option for LGBTQ travelers.

In relevant news, Thessaloniki Pride has submitted its bid to host EuroPride, the pan-European international LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) event, in 2020.
