The nature, history, landmark sites and gastronomy of Naxos were recently featured in a travel TV show of Nautical Channel, a global TV network focusing on travel, holidays and water sports. Naxos town The island was recently visited by Nautical Channel’s journalist and host, Andi van Zyl, for the filming of two episodes on its monuments, underwater treasures and local specialties. “For the Municipality of Naxos and the Small Cyclades, gastronomy is not just a form of tourism but a ‘passport’ for the promotion of a multidimensional tourism product,” Deputy Mayor Dimitris Lianos said. “This is why we encourage the connection of gastronomy with activities, leisure, relaxation, romance and all our target groups,” he added. According to an announcement, the episodes were scheduled to broadcast in July, and will be shown again many times in the next months. Nautical Channel’s program is broadcast in Greece via Cosmote TV, as well as in 40 countries in America, Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Australia. Naxos Municipality holds press trips Andi van Zyl’s trip to Naxos was part of a number of press events organized by the Municipality of Naxos and the Small Cyclades, with the support of the South Aegean Region and tourism consulting agency Remake, aiming to promote the island’s beauty and gastronomy. Portara, Naxos Naxos was also featured in an extensive article written by chef, travel journalist and chair of the International Food, Wine & Travel Writers Association (IFWTWA) Marc D’ Entremont, and published on the website of the Hellenic News of America. Titled,”The harvest of Naxos and the Small Cyclades”, the article refers to Naxos’ villages, flavors, ingredients, hospitable inhabitants and local recipes. Furthermore, a number of articles on Naxos, written by travel writer Cristina Gambaro, will be published in top Italian magazines. During a visit to the island, Gambaro and a specialized photographer visited restaurants and enterprises producing cheese and other local products.
