The German Travel Association (DRV) will hold its high-profile annual conference in the Peloponnese, Greece, in 2019, an announcement said on Thursday. DRV represents most of Germany’s tour operators, travel agents and suppliers. The announcement follows discussions held between DRV Managing Director Dirk Inger and Peloponnese Region Governor Petros Tatoulis during the ITB 2018 trade show in Berlin. According to an announcement by the region, the Peloponnese was selected as a host destination for DRV’s conference due to the region’s high-quality tourism product and significant investment prospects. Moreover, the regional authority already has experience in holding similar major events such as the highly successful ABTA 2015 Travel Convention and the World Tourism Forum Lucerne (WTFL) Think Tank 2018. “We are constantly proving that we are competitive and can attract important events of national political importance,” Governor Tatoulis said. “The DRV conference will surely boost the tourism product of the Peloponnese and Greece, especially in connection with geopolitical developments in the Mediterranean,” he added.
