Held for the sixth year, the event was held in the context of the “We do local” activities the resort organizes as well as its participation in “FUTOURIS” program. The aim of the “Traditional Harvest Day” was to introduce the guests to the traditional Cretan rural work and highlight the island’s long tradition in grape growing and winemaking. Starting from the Creta Maris vineyard, guests and employees attended and participated in all traditional Cretan works that have to be carried out during harvest. The harvest experience began with the collection of the grapes from the vineyard. The grapes were transferred to the winepress in the traditional way – by donkey – for the production of the grape must. Following the distillation process, the “raki” traditional alcoholic drink was produced, as well as the grape must jelly. The guests then got another taste of Cretan hospitality through listening to music while dancing and tasting local delicacies. “We do local” is a project first launched by local entrepreneurs on the island of Crete, in cooperation with the certification control body Cosmocert and Local Food Experts.
