Boasting more than 1,500 exhibitors, a strong US presence backed by some 52 corporate heavyweights and an estimated 300,000 visitors, the upcoming 83rd Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF) to run at the TIF-Helexpo Center in the northern port city on September 8-16 is set for success.

The annual Thessaloniki event, which this year welcomes the US as its honored guest, will include a variety of parallel happenings focusing on education, the automotive industry, energy, gastronomy and e-gaming, with the US pavilion (#13) aiming to be the heart of activity.

So far, 52 major enterprises, among these Coca-Cola, IBM Hellas, VISA, Hewlett-Packard, Microsoft, Google, and Lockheed Martin, will be participating in the US pavilion as partners or exhibitors.

At the same time, business leaders, decision-makers and influencers will be participating in the nine-day event strengthening ties, fostering new networks and paving the way for cooperation in an array of fields and areas including energy, tourism and technology, with a number of deals set to be sealed.

This year, the event welcomes first-time participation from Portugal and Uzbekistan, with the number of foreign participants rising to 22 from 18 last year. India’s presence is expected to be strong this year, setting the scene for the 84th TIF, when it will be the honored country.

In the meantime, the focus of the 83rd TIF will be on innovation with over 100 Greek start-ups showcasing their wares and services.
