Enterprises, based on the Greek islands that are eligible to receive the “transport equivalent” (or metaforiko isodynamo) special discount for the transportation of goods, can now register online at www.etaforikoisodynamo.gr.

The platform opened on Monday for enterprises to enter, register and receive their unique islander code.

Currently operating on a pilot scheme, the “transport equivalent” was launched in July, and foresees discounts for the transportation of goods and people from/to 49 Greek islands.

The new measure aims at offsetting the extra cost of transportation to these areas, “which has made local enterprises less competitive,” the shipping ministry said in an announcement.

The measure applies for travels from July 1, 2018, onwards.

Starting in September, companies will be called to submit the relevant transport documents for the months of July, August and September in order to receive in their bank account the amount of discount.
