Greek Tourism Minister Elena Kountoura on Wednesday announced plans to launch new actions and initiatives in 2019 to promote Greece to the Polish market and strengthen tourism ties between the two countries.

Minister Kountoura made the announcement during a recent meeting with the Ambassador of Poland to Greece Anna Barbarzak.

According to Ambassador Barbarzak, the tourist flow from Poland to Greece has been increasing in recent years, as in 2017 some one million Polish tourists visited Greek destinations.

The ministry’s new actions to attract more Polish tourists to Greece will take place within the framework of the Joint Greek-Polish Action Plan launched to mark 100 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Actions will include the organization of familiarization (FAM) trips in Greece aiming to promote new destinations and the authentic thematic experiences that the country can offer to Polish visitors.

Moreover, the ministry will enhance Greece’s participation in tourism exhibitions and festivals in Poland, as well as in upcoming events to celebrate 100 years of bilateral diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The tourism ministry will carry out the promotional actions and initiatives in cooperation with the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) and in close contact with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
