The newest member of Karatarakis Hotels and Restaurants, Legacy Gastro Suites pairs culinary discovery and cultural touch points showcased in an elegant and welcoming 1950s-era design aesthetic. The hotel recently opened in the heart of Crete’s bustling capital city of Heraklion and offers 12 sea view suites. “Guests will immerse themselves in Greek gastronomy through dedicated, all-Greek food stations situated within each suite—as well as at the new My C restaurant on the ground floor,” the hotel’s management said in an announcement. At the custom-made food stations guests will find a curated range of hard-to-find, locally-sourced gourmet products that are representative of various regions throughout Greece. Items include specialty cheeses, nuts, Greek delicatessen cold cuts, premium Greek honey products, extra virgin olive oil from Crete, scrumptious pasteli (homemade honey sesame bars), vanilla ipovrichio (the traditional Greek “spoon sweets”), a range of Greek wines and more—with options for à la carte, in-room dining as well. Each luxurious suite is thematically linked to one of three major figures of Cretan culture: poet Vincenzo Kornaro, painter El Greco and author Nikos Kazantzakis. The hotel aims to opens a new chapter in Crete’s unique cultural narrative as each of the 12 spacious suites is graced with stylistic flourishes that reference the life and leading works of the preeminent Cretan artists. “Building on our team’s collective passion for both Greek gastronomy and Crete’s rich cultural heritage, we are confident that our very special, all-suite hotel will set a standard when it comes to an immersive luxury gastronomic experience that is both memorable and delicious,” says Lefteris Karatarakis, President & Managing Director of Karatarakis Hotels & Restaurants.
