The plan – budgeted at 1 million euros – will include the use of mobile phone apps; 3D virtual reality tours to landmark sites and buildings of the area, and the creation of a central portal for the submission of documents and multimedia files in digital form. Furthermore, the plan foresees the region’s participation in international tourism exhibitions and the use of marketing tools for the creation of a special tourism identity that will promote the area’s competitive advantages. “We need to undertake new initiatives that will highlight the advantages of our region and promote it as an attractive destination, as well as pave the way for its sustainable development that will also benefit the local community,” Western Greece Governor Apostolos Katsifaras said.
