Greek passenger shipping company Minoan Lines recently held a ceremony at the port of Souda on Crete for the inauguration of the Piraeus-Chania route that is served by its Mykonos Palace Cruise Ferry.

“This is a significantly important day for us at Minoan Lines, because this is not just one more itinerary… we have invested – as we’ve been doing for the last 45 years – in the upgrade of sea transport to our country’s island complex,” Minoan Lines CEO Antonis Maniadakis said during his welcoming speech.
“We upgraded the line with the ultra-modern Mykonos Palace, the youngest and fastest ship in Chania,” he added.
Built in 2002, the Mykonos Palace ferry can transport 1,912 passengers and 821 vehicles. The vessel includes 732 beds; modern cabins; state-of-the-art security and navigation systems; self-service and a la carte restaurants; bars and lounges; a swimming pool; conference and shopping centers.
The ferry departs daily at 4pm from the port of Piraeus and at midnight from the port of Souda, Crete. The journey lasts six hours and 30 minutes.
“Our aim is to provide our passengers and the professionals of Chania and the greater region with integrated high-quality services, and make their journey a unique unforgettable experience,” Maniadakis said.
Moreover, Maniadakis referred to the company’s efforts to the development of Crete, mainly through tourism.
During the ceremony, Minoan Palace welcomed visitors on board with a number of artistic surprises. They had the opportunity to tour the ship’s interior areas and enjoy the services offered by the well-experienced staff.
Also present were Archbishop Irineos of Crete; Vice Governor of the Regional Unit of Crete Apostolos Voulgarakis, representatives of local authorities; journalists; Minoan Lines executives and crew.
