Organized by Navigator Shipping Consultants, the Shipping Decision Makers Weekend will run in parallel to the 18th Navigator Forum. Shipping sector executives, maritime organizations, shipping companies and maritime press will be attending the annual event, which offers a podium for the exchange of know-how, experience, insight and ideas as well as ways to meet the challenges of an ever-evolving sector. At the same time, Navigator events remain committed to enhancing and continuing Greece’s long history and leading role in shipping, supporting annually Greek islands and destinations that have contributed to the development of the Greek sector including Oinousses, Hydra, Lesvos, Chios and Piraeus. Issues to be addressed this year include ports and the supply chain, innovation and technology, the human factor and soft skills, IMO regulations, and education and training. Panel discussions will focus on the future of shipping and the role of technology; environmental developments and changes in human resources; shipping past, present and future; new challenges in the sector. Navigator forum participants will also have a chance to enjoy a traditional Chios feast, tour the island’s famed Mastichochoria (Masticha villages) and visit the Chios Mastic Museum and Chios Maritime Museum. The island’s trademark product, a mastic known as “mastiha Chiou”, was included on the UNESCO List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2014. Attendance is free.
