The event kicked off on September 26, and will run until September 30. In its 11th year, the International Animation Festival + Agora, powered by the Onassis Culture, features screenings of over 200 animation films from 30 countries, competitions, panoramas, artist tributes, educational events and workshops for children and adults, pitching forums, parties and parallel events. Besides a children’s animation fest dedicated this year to school life; tributes to Israel, Albania, Taiwan and Iran; premiere screenings (within the Athens Animation Agora) including Oscar-nominated “The Breadwinner”, the festival also hosts special events including Onasseas – The Salty Stories tribute backed by Onassis Culture, inspired by the power of the sea and its stories, as well as a series of LGBTQI+ films in collaboration with Athens Pride. All Syros events are free of charge and take place at the Apollo Theater, the Ermoupolis Cultural Center, University of the Aegean premises, Miaouli Square, as well as at other venues on the island. The three-day innovation event featured lectures, presentations and screenings, offering animation professionals and students a chance to network and develop synergies. Syros island.
