Cycling enthusiasts and athletes of all ages recently participated in the Autumn Bicycle Round 2018, organized by Greek passenger shipping company ANEK Lines and the Talos Cycling Association at the port of Souda in Chania, Crete.

The event included races for men and women, adults, youngsters and children.

“We are extremely happy that, once again, we have been part of a national prestigious race. For more than a century, ANEK Lines has been actively participating in local initiatives, standing by the side of all Cretans, proudly conveying the ideals of sports and fair play, which bring hope and optimism amid these difficult times,” the company’s President Giorgos Katsanevakis said during the event.

Furthermore, referring to the children, Katsanevakis said that fair play should be part of their lives. “Experience solidarity in a righteous way, support your fellow athlete, recognize superiority, but above all learn from this young age that life becomes pleasant, human and essential with these elements as a resource,” he added.

The company has been supporting the Talos Cycling Association for almost 20 years. “I would like to thank ANEK Lines… for supporting our efforts and providing the cyclists of Talos, as well as hundreds of athletes on Crete, with the chance to fulfill their goals,” Talos President Yiannis Kopanakis said.

The race’s winners were awarded onboard the company’s Elyros ferry, which is currently serving the Piraeus–Chania route.

The event also included music and dancing by the “Pelasgoi” local dance association, and Cretan traditional specialties prepared by the experienced chefs of ANEK Lines.

The Autumn Bicycle Round 2018 is approved by the Hellenic Cycling Federation and included in its official calendar.
