Greetings 2018 Key Tourism Figures 2018: George Vernicos, President OKE by GTP editing team 1 November 2018 written by GTP editing team 1 November 2018 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 30 We must keep improving our tourism products, services, ideas, collaborations & social dialogue level Greek tourism, after a record year for 2018 and 16 billion euros direct foreign income from tourism, looks forward for the trend to continue in 2019. Thus, it’s confirmed that tourism is the economic flagship of our country. As a result, Greek tourism must always be on a threefold mission: it must constantly upgrade the quality of tourism products and services, focus on research and keep an open dialogue with the State and all the relevant tourism bodies. [/column] All the social partners must work constantly to develop the necessary specialized tools, design and implement specific plans towards the aforementioned direction. Before all else, this achievement requires an agreed predefined vision and a well-documented strategy. When we talk about strategy, we talk about a state-of-the-art knowhow and our determination to develop and implement realistic policies that will strengthen and not burden healthy entrepreneurship, as alone it can bring growth, public revenue and employment. By compiling the best of every sector’s potential, our country can become the world leader in delivering high-standard services. This is definitely the only feasible way for us to start: a constructive cooperation in all areas, the reconstruction of entrepreneurship and the strengthening of the Greek economy as a whole. Tourism holds the steering wheel firmly in its hands and if we want to preserve it at the top, we should keep improving not only the products and services we provide, but also our ideas, collaborations and social dialogue level.
