The country is expected to welcome a record 32 million foreign travellers in 2018 – up from just 6.2 million in 1998 and 15 million in 2010. No major European destination has seen a bigger increase in visitor numbers this decade. Greece is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Europe, and it attracts visitors who come to experience the beautiful islands, ancient towns, and unique history. And Greece is also the top destination for Czech tourists. Greece attracted 265,000 visitors in 2016 and 371,000 visitors in 2017 from the Czech Republic. This is a 40% increase and we expect in the last summer season even better results. [/column] Greece is a favourite destination for Czech tourists. Greece is the ideal place for all ages, loved by families with children, young couples and old generations. Czech tourists spent an average of 9.4 nights during their summer holidays last year. In summer of course tourist movement soars as the Greek sun is synonymous with freedom and a carefree lifestyle, yet the country’s mild climate and many attractions, along with its excellent infrastructure, have made Greece a favourite destination in winter too. There have been built many four and five-star hotels in the islands and mainland Greece in the last seven years. Most trips to Greece are organized by Czech travel agencies. Many of them are associated with the Association of Czech Travel Agencies. Bringing together both main tour operators and travel agents, the Association’s members enjoy a major position in tourist industry in the Czech Republic. The Association of Czech Travel Agencies is a voluntary organization of bodies active both on domestic and foreign markets. Its aim is to represent and protect the economic interests of its members, to assist them in extending the range of their activities, and enhancing their professional prestige. More information about the Association of Czech Travel Agencies and its members are available on its website.
