Greetings 2018 Key Tourism Figures 2018: Lyssandros Tsilides, President FedHATTA by GTP editing team 1 November 2018 written by GTP editing team 1 November 2018 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 23 We stand shoulder to shoulder with the travel professionals, who are the backbone of the industry Another record-setting season and a significant rise in off-season tourism have cemented the leading position of Greece as a favorite year-round destination in the global tourism market. FedHATTA’s strategy is clear: to develop and support the tourism industry in Greece and at the same time raise awareness of all that Greece offers. At FedHATTA, we stand shoulder to shoulder with our members, the travel professionals, who are the backbone of the industry. Our “Dodeka” platform supports the industry and showcases Greece’s year-round tourism potential by highlighting that Greece offers endless experiences, any time of year. In April, we were honored to host the ASTA Destination Expo in Athens, where hundreds of American travel agents got to know our beautiful country first-hand. The success of the expo is already reflected in increased visitor numbers from the US. In our immediate neighborhood of the Eastern Mediterranean, we have signed MOUs, initially between Greece, Cyprus, Egypt and Israel, to create the East Mediterranean Travel and Tourist Agents Synergies. This cooperation will be the springboard for developing all tourism sectors across the region. The next major event is Japan Week (fall 2019), which will be hosted in Athens and will bring numbers of influential visitors from Japan to our capital. This gives us the opportunity to re-energize this large tourist market, which has been weakened in recent years. We are preparing a full program to accompany this great meeting of cultures. We do not rest. There is much work ahead that – we are sure – will bear fruit for the good of all. I wish the entire Family of Tourism a constructive new tourism season.
