With branches in Athens and Thessaloniki, the Metropolitan College is among Greece’s leading organizations offering university education. Its Faculty of Tourism, offers a wide range of academic programs in various fields including International Hospitality and Tourism Management, Culinary Arts and Gastronomy. Metropolitan College has also been honored as the “Best Hotel Education Provider” at the Greek Hospitality Awards in 2016 and 2017. During the Philoxenia and Hotelia shows, the stand of the Faculty of Tourism hosted a large number of visitors that showed a big interest in its academic courses – bachelors and masters – which the organization provides in collaboration with the prestigious Queen Margaret University of Edinburgh. The students of the innovative undergraduate program on Culinary Arts and Food Service Development, also offered local products and wine to the Philoxenia-Hotelia visitors. Furthermore, the students and graduates of the College visited the exhibitors’ stands and had the unique opportunity to learn more about some of the most significant companies and organizations of the global tourism industry. “Our participation in Philoxenia and Hotelia supports our broad academic vision, which focuses on connecting our students with the labor market and keeping them informed on the latest trends in their fields of interest,” said Evangelos Kontaxakis, the director of Metropolitan College of Thessaloniki. Philoxenia and Hotelia are among the most significant and longest-running tourism exhibitions in Southeastern Europe. The two events this year hosted 20,000 visitors from 47 countries, 615 exhibitors from 22 countries, approximately 200 hosted buyers and 4,000 business meetings.
