The initiative was also part of Martiott International’s efforts to empower the “Serve 360” project, which runs within the framework of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program. The “Run for Youth” event encouraged associates from all Marriott Greece & Cyprus properties to walk or run. It took place on Friday, November 16, with the participation of employees from seven properties in Greece including the hotels Grande Bretagne and King George; the Athens Marriott; the Sheraton Rhodes Resort; the Blue Palace on Crete and the Vedema & Mystique on Santorini. Starting from the Athens Marriott hotel near the city center, participants passed by the gardens of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation towards the coastline and reached the finish line at the Flisvos marina area. “On behalf of the Marriott Greece & Cyprus Business Council, I would like to personally thank each volunteer that took part in this important initiative and helped raise funds for the SOS Children’s Villages Greece,” said Tim Ananiadis, Marriott Greece & Cyprus Business Council Chair and General Manager of the Grande Bretagne and King George Luxury Collection properties in Athens. The properties of Marriott Greece & Cyprus contributed with 10 euros for each participant plus 1 euro for each kilometer covered by the runners. In addition, the volunteers contributed with 5 euros each for their participation. The event also aimed to strengthen the team spirit of company employees and Marriott’s commitment to CSR activities. Marriott International operates and franchises hotels and licenses vacation ownership resorts. It currently includes 5,700 properties in over 110 countries. The Hotel Grande Bretagne and the King George Hotel are owned and controlled by Lampsa Hellenic Hotels, a subsidiary company of the Laskaridis group, and managed by Marriott International.
