As part of plans to open up to the Arab and Asian markets, the 1st Greek Tourism Workshop was held under the auspices of the tourism ministry with the support of the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) and organized by Congress & Business Planners. The event brought together tourism professionals and stakeholders, government officials and opinion makers who had the chance to learn more about Greek destinations and tourism offerings with the aim to stimulate tourism to Greece from Jordan, with particular focus on high-income travelers. Addressing the gala dinner that followed and included representatives from the Jordan tourism ministry, the country’s tourism council, ambassadors and tour operators and agents, Jordan’s Tourism Ministry Secretary General Issa Gammoh referred to the close ties between the two nations and the economic prospects opening up in tourism due to “Greece’s exceptional tourist product and high quality tourist services”. Greek speakers focused on the tourism products available all year round and highlighted destinations in the South Aegean Region, Crete, and the Peloponnese. On his part, GNTO Secretary General Konstantinos Tsegas referred to Greece’s comparative advantages, which include being a safe destination for family holidays, and offering a wide array of recreation and wellness options throughout the year thanks to its mild climate. Tsegas went on to underline the importance of the country’s modern tourist infrastructure, which can meet all demands. Upcoming Greek Tourism Workshops, organized with the support of Mideast Travel and Aegean Airlines have been scheduled for: Mumbai, India – January 22, 2019; Beirut, Lebanon – February 20, 2019; Jeddah, Saudi Arabia – March 24, 2019; and Doha, Qatar – April 10, 2019.
