Written by journalist Sarah Edworthy, the article titled, “Hidden gems: the discreet charm of Greece’s smaller islands”, gives its readers the grand tour to “the charms of the Lilliputian islands” near south of Naxos. “With golden beaches, limpid turquoise waters and breathtaking geological formations, Iraklia, Schinoussa, Donoussa, Koufonissia and the uninhabited Keros Island are undeniably idyllic,” Edworthy says. The journalist begins her trip from Naxos’ beaches and traditional villages and continues to Iraklia’s caves, ancient sites and churches; Schinoussa’s villages with the whitewashed houses, remarkable sunsets and tranquil environment; Koufonissia’s sandy shores, hidden sea caves and nearby islets; and Donousa’s steep cliffs and emerald waters. She then heads to Keros, “a small but impressive island, which lies southeast of Ano Koufonisi… and is a source of endless fascination for archaeologists.” Kato Koufonissi.
