Athens International Airport (AIA) and the Lufthansa Group airline members are inviting travelers this holiday season to “Fly for a Child” in support of the “Together for Children” (Mazi gia to paidi) association, a non-profit NGO.

Through the “Fly for a Child” charity initiative titled, AIA will offer 1 euro to the association for each child travelling with Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines or SWISS between December 21, and January 6. The initiative aims to secure the welfare of children facing poverty, disability and abuse.

“In today’s society, where families face extremely difficult situations, children are often defenseless victims. AIA actively supports the significant work of the ‘Together for Children’ association. We hope that through our ‘Fly for a child’ program, we will be able to reach children, who seek for help and support,” Papadopoulou added.

“Together for Children” currently supports more than 30,000 children in Greece. The association also operates the helpline 11525 as well as a Counseling Center.

“Corporate responsibility, the social commitment to meet our responsibilities towards the environment and society, is an integral part of the Lufthansa Group’s corporate strategy… It is our responsibility to create a world where children will be able to ‘fly to their future’ with joy and optimism,” said Konstantinos Tzevelekos, Lufthansa Group General Sales Manager for Greece and Cyprus.
