Culinary Attica’s Gastronomy, Wines Fascinate Foreign Tour Operators and Journalists by GTP editing team 7 January 2019 written by GTP editing team 7 January 2019 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 11 The unique wines and gastronomy of the area of Attica were on the focus of a familiarization (fam) trip, which was recently organized by the Region of Attica, with the participation of top travel professionals, journalists and bloggers from all over the world. More specifically, 24 executives of leading tour operators, as well as journalists and bloggers focusing on wine and gastronomy tourism from Italy, Turkey, Cyprus, Poland, Russia, Austria, The Netherlands, Germany, Portugal and Spain visited Attica between December 17 and 20, and had the opportunity to experience its popular and lesser-known destinations. Some of the agencies represented were Top Kinisis Travel LTD, Intra Latin Tur, Intra World, IntraTravel and Grecos Holiday. According to an announcement, participants had the chance to visit vineyards and wineries in the areas of Spata and Koropi, as well as the biological vineyard of the Queens Tower Estate at the Antonis Tritsis Park in Ilion, were they tasted local specialties and wines. In addition, they toured Attica’s landmark sites and museums such as the Temple of Poseidon in Sounion; the Acropolis and the Acropolis Museum in Athens; the Vravrona archaeological site and the Temple of Artemida; the Ancient Greek Technology Museum Kostas Kotsanas; the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center, and the coastal area of Porto Rafti. “The foreign tour operators, journalists and bloggers were amazed by the plethora of different experiences offered in Attica… its vineyards, archaeological sites, beautiful coastaline and modern tourism resorts,” an announcement said. The Region of Attica also held a presentation at a central Athens hotel, which focused on the area’s competitive advantages and diverse destinations that “make Attica the ideal all-year-round short break destination, covering all preferences and ages”. The fam and press trip was organized by the Tourism Directorate of the Region of Attica in collaboration with the Attica Wine & Food Experience club.
