Passenger traffic at Athens International Airport (AIA) reached a new record high in 2018, at 24.14 million, up by 11 percent compared to 21.73 million in 2017.

According to data released by AIA, this growth was driven mainly by the strong increase of international arrivals by 13.8 percent to 16.4 million passengers.

Furthermore, domestic arrivals rose by 5.6 percent and reached 7.73 million.

During December, the Athens Airport passenger traffic also enjoyed a robust increase of 9.1 percent, reaching 1.55 million compared to 1.42 million during the same month in 2017.

Both domestic and international travelers increased by 9.9 percent and 8.7 percent respectively.
