In efforts to keep up with new travel trends and changing consumer needs, SETKE President Panagiotis Tokouzis has invited the South Aegean Region to join forces in setting the groundwork for the development of experiential tourism products in the Dodecanese.

The Greek Confederation of Tourist Accommodation Enterprises (SETKE) announced that its members on the Dodecanese islands would be launching a number of tourism options that involve immersive experiences so that visitors can connect with the history, people, culture and gastronomy of each island.

Tokouzis is already working with SETKE members (active in room rentals) and local businesses for the creation of tourism itineraries that involve interaction through sports, nature hikes, local event participation and gastronomy with the goal to offer visitors genuine Dodecanese island experiences on a more personal level.

In order to ensure that standards are met as well as top quality services, SETKE plans to set up a certification body that will provide its accredited stamp of approval to accommodation facilities that have implemented experiential travel options and packages as well as certification to hospitality units that promote special interest tourism.

SETKE notes that the majority of its members (rooms to let and apartment rentals) are concentrated in the Dodecanese, which includes such islands as Rhodes, Kos, Patmos and Karpathos.

SETKE aims to cooperate with the South Aegean Region through its Tourist Development Institute to research and record island infrastructure, and launch a digital platform offering information on experiential travel options for each island.
