Skoulas Athens walked away with two significant honors at the Meetings Star Award Ceremony, which was recently held during the opening of the 11th Conventa 2019 Trade Show in Ljubljana, Slovenia. This year’s Meetings Star Awards were given to destinations, hotels, conference venues, as well as events held in major European cities. The Greek capital was once again awarded as an XL Meeting Destination, the Athens Convention and Visitors Bureau (ACVB) said in an announcement. Athens received 4,51 points out of 5, and was once again voted among the Top 10 XL Meeting Destinations for 2018, able to host more than 2,000 attendees. Furthermore, Athens also received the Meetings Star Certificate of Excellence 2018 as a “New Europe Destination”. The awards were received by Eliza Tsolakou, ACVB Senior Destination Manager, during a ceremony held at the Kosovel Hall of Cankarjev dom – Cultural and Congress Centre in Ljubljana. ACVB represented the City of Athens at the Conventa 2019 with its own stand among 130 exhibitors from Europe and 290 hosted-buyers from 48 countries around the world. During the two- day event, ACVB representatives showcased Athens and held more than 30 meetings with European MICE professionals, who expressed their interest in holding meetings and events in the Greek capital. ACVB also participated in workshops such as the ICCA Breakfast Session and joined the social events organized by Conventa.
