Thessaloniki-based airline Ellinair was highly commended as the fastest growing airline in the domestic market for 2018, during the 19th Airline Marketing Workshop recently held by Athens International Airport (AIA). The Greek airline was honored for its 2018 performance, showing the highest percentage of growth, based on the scheduled passenger traffic. The award was received by Ellinair Senior Marketer Natassa Tzikou during a ceremony held at Athens Airport. “This distinction rewards, in the best possible way, Ellinair’s business activities and development strategy, during its five years of operation,” the company said in an announcement. Ellinair had also been awarded as the Fastest Growing New Airline at Athens Airport in 2017. The carrier in October 2018 opened its new base in Athens. With a fleet of A319 and A320 aircraft, it currently connects eight domestic destinations with the Greek capital on an annual basis, while every year it expands its network with more routes. In 2018, the airline carried more than 1 million passengers. “Through its positive performance Ellinair aims to become the most competitive choice in the minds of Greek travelers,” the company said. Launched in 2013, Ellinair is part of the Mouzenidis Group. The carrier’s network of destinations today includes more than 40 cities in Greece and abroad.
