Air Travel Alitalia: World’s Most Punctual Airline for Jan-April 2019 by GTP editing team 8 May 2019 written by GTP editing team 8 May 2019 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 11 Alitalia ranked first in the world for its on-time performance in the first four months of 2019, according to data released by FlightStats, the US independent data services society specializing in commercial aviation. “With 89 percent of flights landed on schedule, Alitalia has confirmed itself as the most punctual airline in the world,” the Italian carrier said in an announcement. According to FlightStats, which every month drafts the list of the major airlines in the world for on-time performance comparing the data of equivalent airlines for size and network, Alitalia performed an excellent on-time index in April as well. The analysis performed by FlightStats reported that, in April, Alitalia was the most punctual airline in Europe and in third place globally, with 87.5 percent of flights landing on schedule. Alitalia’s on-time performance index was 9 percentage points higher than the average punctuality index of world airlines (78.5 percent). Furthermore, Alitalia was the only European airline in the top 5 of most punctual airlines in the world. As part of its 2019 summer schedule, Alitalia flies to 100 destinations, including 27 Italian and 73 international destinations, with over 4,300 weekly flights and 150 routes. FlightStats is one of the few data service companies that monitors almost every flight operated by each airline. FlighStats follows the “A14” on-time performance method, monitoring flights which arrive at the gate less than 15 minutes after the scheduled arrival time.
