SETKE said the agreement was a move in the right direction, an “important step towards progress” both for employees in non-hotel accommodation and for businesses, ensuring the smooth operation of the sector and providing a “shield of protection”. The agreement, tabled and signed by Labor Minister Efi Achtsioglou, foresees favorable conditions for entrepreneurs due to limited wage costs as employee salary terms are set at lower levels. According to SETKE, which cooperated with the General Panhellenic Federation of Tourism Enterprises (GEPOET) on the terms, the basic monthly salary for employees in non-hotel accommodation units comes to 711-771 euros, while daily wages start at 28.44 euros to 30.84 euros depending on type of employment. According to SETKE, this is the sector’s first collective labor agreement adopting the best wage prospects for employees in non-hotel accommodation, which covers some 39,000 businesses.
