Mediterranean Yacht Show 2019 Attracts Over 450 Trade Visitors from 31 Countries

More than 450 commercial visitors from 31 countries participated in the 6th Mediterranean Yacht Show (MEDYS) 2019, a prime yachting event, held every year in the coastal town of Nafplio in the eastern Peloponnese.

MEDYS logoOrganized by the Greek Yachting Association (GYA), the five-day event took place between May 4-8, with the aim to promote Greece’s professional crewed leisure yachts to charter brokers from all over the world.

According to an announcement, visitors came from a wide range of countries, including the US, Australia, the UK, Spain, Canada, China, Poland, Russia, France, Italy, Germany, Anguilla, the British Virgin Islands, Monaco, Cyprus, Greece, Seychelles and Egypt.

During the event, they had the opportunity to visit a total of 34 stands exhibiting yachting products and services, as well as admire a lineup of 102 yachts, as the captains and crews welcomed them aboard.

During the MEDYS 2019 opening ceremony in Nafplion’s Palamidi Forthress, GYA president Michalis Skoulikidis spoke of the significant growth of Greece’s sea tourism sector, amid the demanding international environment.

Furthermore, he referred to MEDYS’ success, which – in only a few years – has managed to evolved into one of the largest exhibitions of leisure crewed yachts globally.

Among the companies and organizations that participated in the MEDYS 2019 event were Burgess, Camper & Nicholsons International, Edmiston, Fraser, Yachting Partners International, CharterWorld, CSO Yachts, IYC, Northrop & Johnson, TWW Yachts, Yachtzoo, Luxury Charter Group, West Nautical and the MYBA – The Worldwide Yachting Association.

The MEDYS 2019 also featured the popular Chefs’ Competition, which was held with the participation of some of the country’s finest chefs, as well as several events, and the annual party for the yacht crews, organized by the Hellenic Yacht Crew Association (HYCA) with the support of GYA.

The MEDYS 2019 was held under the auspices of the Greek Ministry of Tourism with the support of the Municipality of Nafplion and the Region of the Peloponnese.
