The Greek tourism ministry announced on Thursday that it would be introducing 10 new tourism studies programs for the 2019-2020 period to be offered in four more Greek cities.

The ministry is implementing for a second year, post graduate educational and training programs aimed at employees and short-term unemployed in reception service, food and beverages, culinary art, confectionery and home care.

More specifically, Tourism Minister Thanasis Theocharopoulos approved tourism education and training courses to be offered for the first time in Trikala, Heraklion on Crete, Nafplio, and Loutraki.

According to the ministry, the post graduate programs for employees and the short-term unemployed are aimed at upgrading services offered and the overall tourism product.

Courses are currently available in Athens, Chios, Thessaloniki, Volos, Rhodes, Corfu, Agios Nikolaos, Chania, Pyrgos, and Kalamata.

Data released earlier this year by the Labor Ministry’s Ergani system showed that all the more young people in Greece are choosing to study tourism thanks to its strong professional outlook. The findings indicated that study programs in tourism and F&B (food and beverages) appear to have the competitive advantage over other professions due to opportunities for immediate placement as well as the degree of career outlook and advancement.
