The new liner kicked off its maiden voyage in December 2018 cruising the Eastern and Western Caribbean and now continuing its tour of the Mediterranean with seven- and 11-night cruises from the ports of Rome and Barcelona. The impressive cruise ship took four years to construct aiming with its visionary design – carried out in 3-D from start to finish – to raise the bar in cruise travel. The Celebrity Edge, the first in Celebrity Cruises’ new class of ships, includes everything from the new tennis-court sized Magic Carpet – the world’s first cantilevered venue that moves up and down 16 decks to reach sea-level – and private plunge pools in the Edge Villas to the Edge Stateroom and its Infinite Veranda. The ultimate goal of these design feats? To make guests feel more connected with the sea and the destinations they visit. In numbers the Celebrity Edge is 1,004 feet long, 128 feet wide, and travels at a speed of 22 knots. It has 14 passenger decks, 1,467 staterooms, 12 passenger elevators, and can cater to 2,918 guests in 1,467 cabins with the support of 1,320 crew. Public venues include Camp at Sea, the Grand Plaza, the Retreat, the Rooftop Garden, the Solarium, and a dozen dining venues including the Magic Carpet experience above the ocean. Cabin spaces and categories have been extended to include new suites, exclusive access areas for select suites, and innovative dining services. Passengers will have the chance to indulge in Michelin-star chef Daniel Bouloud’s culinary creations while on board, as well enjoy American Ballet Theater performances in the ship’s 900-seat theater complete with video walls.
