Folegandros Ready to Host ‘Sunset Trail’ Running Event

30% discount on ferry travel for the ‘Folegandros Sunset Trail’

The island of Folegandros, located in the Cyclades group, on June 22 will host the “Folegandros Sunset Trail”, a running race that is part of the Cyclades Trail Cup 2019 sports tourism event.

In its fourth year, the Cyclades Trail Cup presents a new set of events in alternative destinations, featuring new routes and exciting cultural experiences. This year, it will include five races on the islands of Kea, Folegandros, Andros, Kythnos and Tinos.

The “Folegandros Sunset Trail” will include a 10km race that will start at 6.45pm from the village of Ano Taxiarches and continue on a path along the island’s southern coast to end in the chora (main town).

On the sidelines of the race, the “Folegandros Sunset Trail” is scheduled to feature cultural events, including music, dances and parties.

Co-organized by the Municipality of Folegandros, the event aims to promote the island’s traditional handmade trekking paths, cultural history, music, dances and gastronomy.

Online registration is open until June 14. Athletes can also register at the race’s reception area on June 22, between 10am and 5pm.

Golden Star Ferries is the ferry partner of the “Folegandros Sunset Trail” and is offering athletes a 30 percent discount on tickets from/to Folegandros, for trips between June 20-24, on the “HSC Supercat” vessel. In order to book a ticket –after registration –  athletes must provide their ID number.
