Tourism Minister Thanasis Theocharopoulos approved the Special Regulation for the Operation of the Tourist Port of Gouvia on Corfu, which defines mooring terms and facility organization on the port premises. The marina caters to the berthing needs of 1,068 recreational craft ranging from four to 50 meters length and with hull (draft) depth not exceeding 5.5 meters. The port authority or third parties will be able to exploit and operate the land installations through sub-leasing contracts. According to the ministry, the approved regulation also includes the implementation of a marine pollution response plan aimed at minimizing the potential impact on the marine environment. Last month, Theocharopoulos approved a concession agreement for the construction of a marina on the Dodecanese island of Leros, foreseeing the creation of a 73-berth marina at Alinda Bay to accommodate yachts and marine recreation vehicles.
