The Kastri beach of the Creta Maris Beach Resort in Hersonissos, on the island of Crete, has been awarded with the “Blue Flag” for the sixth consecutive year.

Creta Maris’ Nikos Vlassiadis raises the “Blue Flag”.

A world-renowned voluntary eco-label, Blue Flag is awarded to beaches, marinas, and sustainable boating tourism operators.

Greece ranked second on the 2019 Blue Flag award list among 47 countries with 515 beaches, 15 Greek marinas and four sustainable tourism boats.

To celebrate its “Blue Flag” award, Creta Maris recently held a beach cleanup operation, with the voluntary participation of children from the local “Zouzounakia” pre-school.

The 50 students proceeded with the cleaning of the beach together with the resort’s Green Team and employees.

“Offering excellent accommodation services, while maintaining its environmentally responsible operations, is at the core of Creta Maris Beach Resort’s philosophy,” the resort’s General Manager Nikos Vlassiadis said, also adding that the Kastri beach meets the highest international environmental standards.

‘It is the ideal summer destination for the local community and Creta Maris’ guests,” Vlassiadis underlined.

Also present at the event were the President of the Hersonissos Municipal Community, Aikaterini Tsichli; Hersonissos Port Authority Chief Athanasia Perisinaki; the doctor of the Cretan Medicare Center, Dimitris Batsis; the resort’s guests and employees.

A member of the Metaxa Hospitality Group, the Creta Maris Beach Resort offers a wide range of facilities and services for the whole family including 680 rooms, suites and bungalows; the “Cine Creta Maris” open-air cinema; six swimming pools for children; the impressive “Asterias” Children’s Club; the Teenagers’ Club; a baby room with toys; an outdoor playground; a disco; tennis courts, and a brand new water park.
