Ferries Ferry Strike in Greece on July 3 by GTP editing team 1 July 2019 written by GTP editing team 1 July 2019 5 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 35 Greece’s passenger ferry service will be disrupted on Wednesday, July 3, as the Pan-Hellenic Seamen’s Federation (PNO) has announced a 24-hour strike. All ferries will remain docked at the country’s ports from 00:01 until 24:00. The PNO decided to proceed with a strike after reviewing proposals by the Greek Shipowners Association for Passenger Ships (SEEN) involving a new collective labor agreement for seamen. The federation deemed the proposals as “unsatisfactory”. Travelers who have booked ferry tickets for July 3, are advised to check with their travel agents or contact local port authorities for further information. Passengers whose trip is cancelled due to the strike are entitled to a full refund of their ticket. We are travelling from Arkitsa to Edipsos on August 16th and need to find the appropriate booking agent. Thank you Reply felipe 2 July 2019 - 12:50 Dear William, Thank you for your message. Reply Rachel 2 July 2019 - 11:37 Do the strikes ever extend longer than 24h? We are traveling via ferry on Thursday morning Reply GTP editing team 2 July 2019 - 11:42 Hello Rachel. An official announcement will be made if the strike is to be extended. For now, it has been announced that all ferries will remain docked at the country’s ports on July 3 from 00:01 until 24:00. However, we suggest that you also check with your travel agent or the local port authority. Reply Maria 3 July 2019 - 12:11 Rachel, I’m on the same boat as you (Pun intented). I’m leaving for an island Thursday morning. I just called the ferry company and they informed me that the official announcement will be made around 2pm today. Fingers crossed. The lady on the phone said that more than likely they will stop the strike. Reply Leave a Comment Cancel Reply Save my name, email, and website in this browser for the next time I comment. Δ
