A world-renowned voluntary eco-label, the Blue Flag is awarded to beaches, marinas, and sustainable boating tourism operators in over 45 countries. In 2019, a total of 515 beaches, 15 marinas and four sustainable tourism boats in Greece, were named among the world’s best, ranking the country second on the 2019 Blue Flag Quality Award list. The beach of Wyndham Grand Crete Mirabello Bay was awarded for its cleanliness and prime infrastructure, as well as for ensuring the safety and comfort of its guests. The flag raising event was held by the hotel’s director, Aris Moustakas, and staff.
