The new hotel is located in the center of Chios’ main town, near the central market. Its nine uniquely decorated rooms are part of a 1890s mansion, which was once owned by the Pissi family of local merchandisers, who were trading and exporting citrus products. The residence was restored with respect to the building’s classic architecture. Current owners, Vassilis Pappas and Nikos Fykaris, trusted architect Lenia Stefanidou to renovate the property. “Chios is a unique destination and has a distinctive architecture. We managed to find this very well preserved 19th century mansion and create a unique hotel with respect to our culture,” Vassilis Pappas said. “We invested a lot of time and effort so that the mansion’s unique features such as the painted ceilings, large wooden windows and large main entrance, remain intact. We wanted our guests to experience authentic hospitality,” he added. Agora Residence’s classic style was further enhanced with vintage furniture, which is part of the owner’s private collection. Each room has its own unique authentic style, and offers comfortable beds, anatomic mattresses, 32’ Flat TVs, free wifi, coffee and tea devices, a working desk, bathroom amenities and more. Some of the rooms feature kitchen appliances and balconies with a view to the city. The property offers all the modern amenities of a contemporary hotel including a lounge area, concierge service and daily cleaning. The residence’s backyard has been transformed into a quiet “retreat” café area, which serves breakfast, refreshments, coffee and tea, drinks, light meals and snacks. The Agora Residence is located on the pedestrian street of Aplotaria near the Chios port and 4km from the airport. It also offers easy access to Chios’ main sites of interest, including the Castle and the Archaeological Museum. Private parking is also available.
