Photo source: Tourism Ministry Greek Tourism Minister Haris Theoharis on Monday was briefed on the role of the Greek Church in the development and promotion of pilgrimage tours in Greece. During a meeting at the Tourism Ministry, the minister was briefed by Archimandrite Spyridon Katramados, secretary of the board of directors of the Synod Office on Pilgrimage Tours, on the initiatives of the Greek Churchto promote Religious Tourism to markets abroad. These initiatives include the Synod Office’s participation in international exhibitions and conferences, production of printed and audiovisual material, and participation in Transnational European Programs. The Minister pledged to support all efforts of the Church of Greece to promote Religious Tourism. Moreover, the Tourism Ministry will support the organization of the 4th Panhellenic Religious Tourism Conference in Epirus on November 10, titled “Epirus: Approaching Religious Monuments and its Culture – New Roads to its Unique Pilgrimage Destination”.
