Three member hotels of the bluegr Hotels & Resorts group, located on Crete, have – once again – received the Blue Flag eco-label for their environmental consciousness and the high-quality of their beaches.

According to an announcement, the group’s Minos Beach art hotel received the honor for the 26th consecutive year.

Meanwhile, Minos Palace hotel & suites and Candia Park Village have been receiving the certification for more than 10 years.

“This is a very significant distinction as it shows the philosophy of bluegr Hotels & Resors to respect the environment by adopting sustainable policies,” the group said in an announcement.

“The distinction of our hotels in the Mirabello bay recognizes our efforts for the area’s bioprotection, and the group’s ecological sensitivity, which aims to promote and protect the natural wealth of Crete.”

The three bluegr hotels remain loyal to the strict criteria set by the Blue Flag program, one of the most significant eco-labels of quality globally: the cleanliness of the water and coastline; the management of the beaches; the safety of visitors; the protection of the natural environment; the education of staff and visitors on sustainable tourism practices.

Greece ranked second on the 2019 Blue Flag quality award list among 47 countries with 515 beaches, 15 Greek marinas and four sustainable tourism boats.

A total of 115 Blue Flag beaches are located on Crete.
