Cutting taxation, increasing wages, tackling unemployment and boosting the competitiveness of Greek tourism enterprises topped the agenda of talks between the labor ministry and the Greek Tourism Confederation (SETE). SETE President Yiannis Retsos and his team met with Labour Minister Yiannis Vroutsis this week to brief him on key issues in tourism that require immediate attention. Priority areas include the reduction of insurance contributions; offering incentives to business entities that are timely and consistent in their contribution payments; addressing issues of undeclared employment by implementing a more stringent regulatory framework; offering incentives and scope for trade body negotiations depending on size of business and location; as well as ways to provide know-how for OAED’s (Hellenic Manpower Employment Organization) educational and training programs.
