Halkidiki’s tourism offerings were recently presented to Dutch tour operators, media representatives and influencers in the cities of Amsterdam and Almere in The Netherlands. The Halkidiki Tourism Organization (HTO) and the office of the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) in The Netherlands held a live presentation and connected the two countries through skype, with the aim to highlight the area’s features and landmark sites, lesser-known destinations and alternative tourism products. “The live event impressed the Dutch tour operators and the media, who were connected with Greece for two hours, receiving information on Halkidiki’s unique advantages,” TTO said in an announcement. They “toured” archaeological and cultural sites, vineyards, traditional villages and hiking trails; “participated”’ in activities with off road jeeps on the mountains and “went” sailing, kayaking and scuba diving. “During the summer season of 2019, Halkidiki was a top destination in the Dutch market, showing the highest increase in bookings, also offering the chance to tourism professionals to learn more on the destination and positively respond to the innovative experiential activities that we organized,” said Eleni Skarveli, head of GNTO in The Netherlands.
