Issues on the agenda included ways to attract tourism to the region, challenges and problems, and ideas on how to best proceed with coordinated actions for the establishment of a regional tourism council. “Epirus has a great deal to offer visitors. These possibilities have not been communicated, they have not reached the people we would like to see choosing to come to visit,” said Theoharis. Ioannina Mayor Elisaf said local government would immediately move ahead with an extensive tourism plan for the city and region. “Special attention will be given to conference, sports and religious tourism. On our part, we will do our best to maintain a permanent and open channel of communication with the ministry to make Ioannina a hub for the Balkans,” he said. Ioannina, Epirus. Konsolas added that the upgrade of tourism training is aimed in this direction. Follow GTP Headlines on Google News to keep up to date with all the latest on tourism and travel in Greece.
