The first page of the feature published on The Sunday Times Travel Magazine. “By day, Greece’s second city thrums with mercantile energy; by night, it’s the oriental wail of rebetiko battling out with thumping club classics,” says travel writer John Malathronas who visited the city in 2018. “But its work-hard, play-hard vibe is nothing new: Romans Byzantines and Ottomans all helped the Greeks make Thessaloniki lively, and their architectural and culinary legacies add spice today,” he adds. The writer also refers to the monuments of Thessaloniki and the city’s cultural heritage spanning from antiquity until the 20th century. Among the must-see sites – according to the magazine – are Aristotelous square, the Rotunda, the Ladadika district, the city’s archaeological museum and the Bezesteni market. The four-page article also offers tips on where to stay, eat and drink. The Rotunda in Thessaloniki. AEGEAN supported THA’s initiative as a transportation sponsor. Follow GTP Headlines on Google News to keep up to date with all the latest on tourism and travel in Greece.
